Making good on a campaign promise, President Donald Trump hit the ground running in an effort to deport “criminal” illegal aliens. ICE arrests have begun to exceed 1,000 daily arrests for the first time. ICE is shooting for a target of 1,500 criminal aliens arrested.

Here are the deportation numbers publicly available.

The largest number of illegal aliens ever deported in a year was 271,000. It happened during the last year of Biden’s presidency. The deceiving part of that number is that these were not exclusively “criminal” aliens. Some 84% of the 271,000 were run-of-the-mill migrants detained at the southern border by Border Patrol and subsequently detained and deported.

What President Trump is ordering ICE to do now is very much different and more important.

Agents in the ICE offices throughout the county are arresting “criminal” illegals already living in communities in the interior of our country. They are not people anyone wants roaming about their town. They are murderers, rapists, burglars, drug dealers and human traffickers.

So, when politicians like Sen. Mark Kelly, D-AZ, try to pretend these deportations efforts are being done just “for show,” and then flat-out says that Presidents Biden and Obama deported many illegal aliens, too, he’s spinning the stats to divert eyes from the truth. And, he’s doing it because the loyal opposition has nowhere else to go.

The “oh, we did that too” defense won’t fly. Democrats are caught on the highly unpopular side of this part of the immigration issue.

Trump’s rooting out “criminal” illegal aliens — legit public safety and national security threats — and he’s doing it at an astonishing rate.

This is not a show.

LAKEN RILEY ACT

Also last week, President Trump signed the first bill of his presidency: The Laken Riley Act. Laken Riley stirred the national conscience when she was raped and murdered on her campus in Georgia by a criminal illegal alien.

Her killer was let in the country under Biden’s watch, jailed and released for petty crime, then given a free ride at government expense to Georgia by the federal government where he stalked and killed the young nursing student on a jog.

Trump made an issue of it during the campaign. Joe Biden and Democrats blew it off.

The Laken Riley Act will require the detention of unauthorized immigrants accused of theft and violent crimes.

What’s happening now are common-sense moves that will give Republicans the edge on border and immigration issues for a generation. That’s just the way it’s shaping up.

NOW SHE CARES?

On Feb. 1, President Donald Trump enacted a 25% tariff on Canada and Mexico. We get a lot of oil from Canada, so that’s going to spike costs for Americans. No doubt about it.

Nevada’s Sen. Jacky Rosen released this statement a few hours after the tariffs were imposed:

“President Trump has effectively enacted a new tax on Americans for anything imported from Canada and Mexico. His across-the-board tariffs are going to drive up costs for hardworking families on essential items, including groceries and housing. At a time when Nevadans are already being squeezed by high costs, this action is only going to hurt families.”

Suddenly, after four years of supporting President Joe Biden’s insane and inflationary policies, Sen. Rosen cares about how much things cost? Just a little late to that party, Senator.
