To the editor,

Last month I had an exchange with Mr. Sam Peters regarding statements he made about Annie Black. Below are our conversations.

Dear Mr. Peters,

Either you or your handlers are idiots!

If you think you can beat Annie Black by attacking her character you will find that will never work. She is the most conservative politician in Nevada, hates tax hikes, and went toe to toe with Sisolak and the Democrat Party against mask mandates, mandated “jabs” and the lockdowns.

And she is honest – try finding THAT in most politicians.

Have a nice day,

Ray Bourassa

Mr. Peters replied:

Ray,

Thanks for the email.  Please explain how exactly I “attacked her character”?  I’ve done no such thing.  What I have done is point out two specific pieces of her voting record…

  1. More than 40 times she voted “Yea” on bills that increased government spending.
  2. She TWICE voted in favor of Mesquite City “Emergency Orders”. (Lockdowns)

These are facts of her political career.  This is not personal…nor are they character attacks. With respect Ray, perhaps you should look at her voting record a little more closely.

In Liberty,

Sam Peters

To which I replied:

As you may recall in recent emails I stated you “attacked Annie Black’s character”. Your reply, “I’ve done no such thing”. You then stated that “what I’ve done is point out two specific pieces of her voting record”…

  1. “More than 40 times she voted “Yea” on bills that increased government spending”
  2. She TWICE voted in favor of Mesquite City “Emergency Orders (Lockdowns)

“These are facts of her political career.  This is not personal. Nor are they character attacks”.

“With respect Ray, perhaps you should look at her voting record a little more closely”.

Well Mr. Peters, I took your suggestion seriously and looked up Annie Black’s voting record. I would like to reply to your second accusation first:

On March 4, 2021 Annie Black was the Primary Sponsor for Nevada Assembly Bill #2 (ACR2). If you are not familiar with that bill, in short it “terminates the emergency described in the Declaration of Emergency for COVID-19 issued by the Governor on March 12, 2020.  (BDR R9-930)

IMHO, this is a far cry from “voting twice in favor of Mesquite City ’emergency bills’ on lockdowns”. (Which by the way I could find no record)

In regards to your first accusation of Annie’s voting there are a lot of bills that Annie has sponsored, co-sponsored, and voted on.  I could not find any, let alone 40 bills that she voted on to increase government spending.

Perhaps you should look at her voting record a little more closely.

I then listed all the bills that I could find that Annie Black had anything to do with.

I again asked Mr. Peters to provide me with his proof of Annie Black’s voting record to substantiate his claims and thus far I have not had a response from Mr. Peters.  I would really appreciate the bill numbers as well as the date/ordinance numbers for the supposed lockdown votes.

I realize that these are contentious times in the political arena but I do not find it helpful for fellow Republicans to  attack fellow Republicans.
