On Saturday, January 18, 2020 Dennis Bryant Whitmore passed away peacefully in Moapa Valley, Nevada at the ae of 78. He was born on May 7, 1941 in Overton, Nevada to Leland and Maudine Seckinger Whitmore.
For many years Dennis carried on the family business that his great grandfather started in the late 1800’s. He delivered freight to Moapa, Moapa Valley and Virgin Valley as the owner/operator of Moapa Valley Freight. Throughout his life he almost always had livestock that he raised. Dennis had a cattle ranch on the Gold Butte Range, a pig farm south of Overton and was partners with his brother in a hay farm. When he had free time he loved to fly his airplane.
Dennis is survived by his five children: Denna Kay (Blake) Anderson, Bryant (Diane), Conner, Lauralee (Blake) Anderson and Dennis (Erika); 25 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; five siblings: Jim, Lloyd, John, Kathy and Darcie. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marilyn and brother, Dan.
There will be Viewing Services at Moapa Valley Mortuary on Friday, January 24, 2020, 6-8 p.m., and at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Overton Chapel on Saturday, January 25, 2020, 9:30-10:30 a.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Overton Chapel on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 11:00 a.m., with Interment following at the St. Thomas Cemetery.
