A Blue Christmas Service is held on or near the Winter Solstice, the longest day of the year. At Mesquite United Methodist Church, they will gather on Tuesday, December 17 at 6:00 P.M. for a special service that acknowledges Christmas with a reverent and personal approach to the celebration of Christ’s birth.
Those who do not feel the exuberance of the season appreciate the value in a Blue Christmas. Experiences of loss, depression, or painful memories of past holidays can be softened in a Blue Christmas service.
Prayer, scripture, and music remind us that God’s presence is for those who mourn and those who struggle, and that God’s word comes to shine a light into our darkness. No need to dread the holidays with this service that offers comfort and uplifting support through the season.
