The Virgin Valley High School Lady Bulldog basketball team went 1-2 at the Bulldog Invitational Basketball Tournament, held on December 12-14. The Bulldogs opened with a 47-43 defeat over the Lincoln County Lynx. The Bulldogs took an 11-6 first quarter lead but fell behind 20-18 at the half. The Bulldogs went on a 16-8 run in the third period to regain the lead 34-28. Despite losing the fourth period the Dawgs held on for the win. Freshman Riley Price led all scorers with 20 points followed by senior point guard Nathalie Lagamayo’s 15 points. Lagamayo went 3-6 from three point range. The win placed the Dawgs in the winner’s bracket against Kanab (Utah). The Dawgs had no answer for Kanab’s B. Cornell who ripped the Dawgs for 24 points to defeat the Bulldogs 56-32. The Lady Dogs ended their tourney facing Pahrump High School on Saturday Dec. 14. The Trojans led from start to finish as they easily handled the Dawgs 54-31. The Lady Dawgs travel to Moapa Valley on Friday Dec.20 to face their archrival Pirates at 5pm. The Bulldogs hope to gain revenge as the Pirates defeated the Dawgs 43-41 in the Lake Mead Classic. The Dawgs record fell to 3-4 for the season.
