The Virgin Valley High School Bulldog boy and girl basketball team’s, opened the 2019-2010 season traveling to Las Vegas for basketball tourneys. The boys kicked off play in the Lake Mead Holiday Classic losing to Del Sol High School 65-55. The Dawgs trailed only by two points 47-45 after three periods but could not hold off the quick Del Sol squad in the fourth period. The Bulldogs had good scoring distribution with Will Barnum and Koden Tietjen leading the way with 11 and 10 points respectively. The Bulldogs led the Fernley High School Vaqueros from start to finish winning going away 45-38. Barnum had 13 points followed by 10 from sophomore Cameron Noel. The Dawgs closed their tournament play with a heart breaking 63-62 loss to TECH. The Dawgs rallied in the fourth and final period but fell short. Senior Barnum led all scorers with 20 points followed by 12 points from center Braden Bingham. “Overall I was pretty pleased by our effort and outcome in the tournament,” said Bulldog coach Mark Barnum. “We travel to Las Vegas to play Sky Pointe in a 3A Sunrise League game before hosting Enterprise (Utah) on Thursday night December 12 at 7:30pm to begin play in our Bulldog Invitational Tournament.”

This will be the 11th year of the BIT which will feature three Utah teams, Enterprise, Crimson Cliffs and Kanab. Nevada teams include, Sierra Vista, Pahrump Valley, Moapa Valley, Lincoln County coached by former Bulldog coach Sean FitzSimons and of course Virgin Valley. The games begin Thursday and 3pm.

The Lady Bulldogs meanwhile began 2019-2020 play also in the Lake Mead Holiday Classic. The Bulldogs went 1-2 in the tournament defeating The Meadows 62-24 and losing to Calvary Chapel 65-50 and Moapa Valley 43-41 in a close matchup. Statistics were not available as of this writing. The Lady Dawgs will host Sky Pointe on Tuesday December 10 before hosting their BIT Invitational beginning Thursday December 12 against Lincoln County.
