It was appropriate for the Virgin Valley High School Boulder City matchup to end with a 1-1 tie after regulation play. The teams split two home games this season setting up the rubber match.

Defenses on both sides dominated most of the game until the latter minutes of the game. The Dawgs defense was led by Alley Shaner leading her teammates in stopping numerous Boulder City challenges on goal. Bulldog Coach Scott Trimming, said,” We had stellar performances from defenders, Malia McOmie and Addison Snyder who kept the Eagles away from the Bulldogs net. Goalkeeper Erin Ofori stopped every goal that came towards the box. “

The Bulldogs got the first goal of the game with 10 minutes remaining in the game. Raeanna Slack played a thru ball to forward Rainee Brito who beat the keeper for the goal and a 1-0 advantage. The Dawgs continued to lead until they gave up a corner kick to B.C. which led to a goal and a 1-1 tie after regulation. The teams entered into 15 minutes of overtime play. The Bulldogs managed to defend a corner kick and immediately went into a counter attack. The Dawgs played the ball to the left side of the field where winger Jaymie Hulet collected the ball and beat the Eagle mid-fielder, then played a perfect ball splitting the Boulder defense connecting with Rainee Brito who placed the shot over the goalkeeper for the goal and the win. “I am very proud of these girls and I admire them, “said Coach Trimming. “ They have accomplished so much together, and I look forward to see them perform at State Championships next week in Reno.”
