On behalf of the our dog park project fund-raising committee, thank you to everyone for your support of Mesquite Animal Control and Athletic & Leisure Services summer-long participation in the Strut Your Mutt fundraiser to build a new dog park on Hardy Way.

The project, now ended, was an enormous success as we met our goal of raising $25,000!

Best Friends Animal Society, the sponsor of the national Strut Your Mutt project to support municipal shelter and rescue groups across the country, awarded us a $500 bonus for being the second-highest fundraiser among the participants in the virtual fundraising event and told us that we collected more donations than any other municipal shelter in the history of Strut Your Mutt!

We knew Mesquite was special.

Thank you to every person who contributed to this effort in any and all ways.  Special thanks also goes to our business sponsor, The Eureka, for hosting two Paint for Pets events on behalf of the project.  Gerri Chasko and Kathy Kirkland of The Eureka and Bunny Wiseman, local artist, were instrumental in making these events a success.

Watch the shelter’s Facebook page for updates on the construction of the dog park and additional information about how you can get involved in the future.

In the meantime, you can still help raise funds for the Mesquite Animal Shelter by downloading and using the ResQWalk app, available from the App Store or Google Play.  Select “in support of” City of Mesquite Animal Shelter and remember to “start walk” every time you are out and about, with or without a dog.

If you have any questions about anything related to this project, please call the Mesquite Animal Shelter at 702-346-5268 or email strutyoumuttmesquite@gmail.com.
