Bulldog soccer guys defeat Pirates to qualify for 3A playoffs

The Virgin Valley H.S. Bulldog boy soccer team knew they had to win to make the 3A Conference soccer playoffs. They did not disappoint as they defeated rival Moapa Valley H.S. 6-1 Thursday at Moapa. Freshman Zach Trimming got the Dawgs rolling on a cross from David Baltazar early with a quick goal and a 1-0 advantage. Minutes late D. Baltazar headed a corner kick for goal increasing the Dawgs lead to 2-0. Trimming was fouled in the box which resulted in a penalty kick making the score 3-0. The Pirates added a goal prior to the half making the score 3-1 in favor of the Dawgs.

The Bulldogs continued their emotional high to begin the second half, motivating Trimming to strike goal two more times and Baltazar adding another to make the final score 6-1. “It was a good way to finish our last game, “said assistant coach Jhonatan Pantalkis. “We were in a 4 game slump but our guys knew this was it and played super hard.” Trimming had his second 4 goal game of the season for the Dawgs. The Bulldogs face Western H. S. Tuesday at 4pm to start the playoffs at Betty Wilson Complex in Las Vegas.

 

Bulldog soccer gals defeat Pirates 1-0

The Virgin Valley H.S. Lady Bulldog soccer team sneaked by the Moapa Valley H.S. Pirates 1-0 Thursday afternoon at the Mesquite Sports Complex. Star striker Rainee Brito had the goal with an assist from Jayde Tafili. The win, continued the Dawgs roll into the 3A Southern Conference playoffs. The Sunrise League second place Bulldogs fished their regular season 10-2-2. Boulder City finished at 12-1-1to win the regular season. The Lady Dawgs face Valley High School at 6pm at the Bettye Park in Las Vegas.
