Virgin Valley High School celebrates Bulldog Homecoming next week, welcoming all to join the excitement at its parade and sporting events. Throughout the week of Sept. 30 to Oct. 5, the VVHS student body has planned activities to the theme, “Arabian Nights.”
According to Student Body Secretary Madison Julien, school dress-up days revolve around the music from the movie, “Aladdin.” Monday through Thursday kids can be expected to show up in special theme costumes: Arabian pajamas, look-alike twin outfits, purple and teal, and tourists of the world. On Spirit Day Friday, everybody colors up in black, green and white school colors, while the Arabian Nights theme carries through at the homecoming dance on Oct. 5.
The entire community catches the Bulldog spirit on Tuesday, Oct. 1, as VVHS parades on
Mesquite Boulevard at 5 p.m. The VVHS Marching Band sets the beat as the school shows off its homecoming royalty and teams. Local businesses and organizations can place an entry in the parade by contacting the school at 702-346-2780 and completing the needed form that is available at the Mesquite Recreation Center. The parade assembles at the church parking lot on North Arrowhead Lane and proceeds eastbound on Mesquite Boulevard.
VVHS Alum Rally
A special welcome is extended to all VVHS Alumni to stop by Heritage Park adjacent to the parade assembly area. Mesquite Community Education Foundation invites VVHS grads to rally at the park in an alum “meet and greet.” Water and snacks will be offered. The rally will be open before the parade at 4:30 p.m., and again at 5:30 p.m. following the parade. MCEF is a nonprofit organization that supports VVHS to the community and raises scholarship funds for each year’s graduating class.
Midweek, VVHS tennis team meets The Meadows School at the VVHS courts at 3 p.m Wednesday, while the girl’s varsity soccer team plays Doral Academy at the soccer complex, and the girl’s varsity volleyball scrimmages with Doral Academy at the VVHS gym at 5 p.m. On Thursday, girl’s varsity volleyball plays Sunrise High School at 6 p.m. at the VVHS gym.
Homecoming Week culminates with the VVHS Bulldog football team facing Rancho High School
on Friday Night, Oct. 4, at the VVHS field, 820 Valley View Drive. Game time is 7 p.m. This is a big game for the Bulldogs, and all school alums and area residents are invited to come out and cheer on the Dawgs.
