Patrol Captain Averett credited the arrests to the officer’s proactivity. “This traffic stop is an excellent example of why our officers work so hard to patrol the city,” he stated. “Any given stop or contact we make can lead us to illegal activity that poses a risk to the residents of Mesquite. Fortunately, one of our highly trained K9 teams was able to make this seizure and keep those drugs off the street.”
