Smith’s self-checkout cannot replace checkers. With a cart full of groceries, & no checkers, my Early Mon. AM Shopping was a disaster. As an elderly man, the difficulty of self-checkout cannot be overstated. After 25 years & thousands of $ spent, I will no longer shop at Smith’s. It’s simply too hard & a cheesy money saving ploy. Harmon’s & Albertsons in St George will do nicely, thank you.

I agree and Walmart is next.
Amen to that. They have turned grocery shopping into hard work. By the time I puruse the grocery ad, make my list, download the digital bargains to my card, fight the crowded parking lot, manuever my cart through the narrow aisles, it would sure be nice to get some service at checkout. I used to love to grocery shop. Now it’s drudgery.
I so agree! If you want me to check my own groceries, pay me.
Why isn’t the commentary getting posted ?
Be patient, we’re normally closed on the weekends.
I absolutely agree with you. I quit shopping at Smith’s. I pick up small items at Wallmart (no self check). Large shopping is done at Harmon’s in St George.
As an MS sufferer I agree with the horrible shopping conditions here in Mesquite. But, I do find that there are wonderful people both at Smiths and Walmart that will jump in and help if they see you struggling. Additionally, you need to make a choice, cost of food rising r inconvenience. Driving the gorge to St. George plus the cost of gas plus the higher cost of food at Harmon’s and Albertson’s does not make financial sense.
I’m a cashier at Walmart–we are always happy to help you scan and bag, even in the self checks. And I’ve noticed that Smith’s is, also. I know it’s hard to get used to, and sometimes hard. But we try to help everyone if they are having a hard time. If I see you and I’m working in a Scan-N-Go, or if you need help, I’m happy to step up.
