Nicholas John Murray 73, passed away on February 7th, 2019 at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Goodyear, AZ. Nick, known affectionately by his family as Nichol, was born in Chicago Illinois on August 13th, 1945 to William and Alice Murray. He had 2 older brothers and one older sister and was blessed to live there amongst 32 Aunts and Uncles and countless first cousins.  When he was school age his entire family including his 2 brothers and sister moved west to Colorado.  The 4  Murray children rode the entire way sitting on a couch, under a tarp, tied to the back of a flatbed truck filled with all the family’s worldly possessions being warned by their father to stay very quiet whenever they went through a weigh station.  Very much a precursor to the Beverly Hillbillies.

Nichol attended grade school at St. Bernadette’s and graduated from Lincoln High School in Denver.  After high school he worked at various jobs from security to working at Gates Rubber Company before starting a long career as an insulator.

Nichol was loved and cherished by all the children he came in contact with, he always remembered his nieces and nephews with the special gift they longed for, his time.  He could often be found lying on the floor, so they could crawl all over him.

He was a man that all will remember for his giving heart. When you met Nick, a friendship would always begin and never end. He was always there and willing to help anybody that needed a little help.

On December 10th, 1978 Nick married the Love of his life, Rilla Kay Ridenour in Glenrock, Wyoming. They settled down in Wheatland, Wyoming until the kids were grown. Their next adventure was moving to Las Vegas, NV where he finished his career. After retiring in 2004, Nick and Kay moved to Mesquite, NV where many dear friendships have been established. Their retirement years were filled with RV traveling to visit family, friends, and play some Bingo.

Nick was a devoted husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, and friend.   Nick is survived by his wife: Kay, his daughter: Kim Svihovec (Bernie), his son: Rich Spitzer (Jackie) and two grandchildren: Zachery Schye (Sammi) and Nicholas Spitzer, sister: Suzi Goddard (Larry), numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents: William and Alice Murray, his brothers: Michael and Robert, nephew: Billy.
