The Virgin Valley High School Lady Bulldogs hosted their annual Bulldog Invitational on Dec. 6-8 and came out with a 1-2 record. The Bulldogs opened play with Kanab (Utah) on Thursday evening Dec.6 losing 56-24. It was a game of two halves as the Dawgs trailed 24-20 after one half of play. The second half was another story as the lady Dawgs managed only 4 points in the third period and an astonishing 0 points in the fourth. Hailey Dettra led the Dawgs with 19 points.

Bulldog point guard Nathalie Lagamayo came to life in their second game Friday night with 18 points to lead the Dawgs to a 36-28 victory over Lincoln County. The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to 13-8 lead after one period and did not trail for the rest of the way.

The Dawgs finished tourney play on Saturday falling to 4A Shadow Ridge 53-36. The Bulldogs stayed with the Mustangs for most of the game, trailing by only 6 points 30-24 after one half of play. The Bulldogs still were in the game 39-31 with one period remaining before the Mustangs pulled away in the fourth period outscoring the Dawgs 14-7 to win easily. Alexis Boatright and Lagamayo had the bulk of the Bulldog scoring with 14 and 12 points respectively. The Lady Dawgs host TECH on Friday Dec. 14 at 5pm to end 2018 before traveling to Las Vegas to play in the Gator Classic on January 2. The Bulldogs will open 3A Sunrise League play at Moapa Valley on January 11.
