I’d like to know why no one seemed to know that the Virgin Valley Cab will no longer be in service as of 4/27/18. We heard a rumor and decided to call the cabbie on duty, who informed us that they were pulling out of Mesquite. The bus lines run a limited number of routes. I was more than disappointed to find this out, and it would have been nice if some kind of notice had been given. I don’t use it often, but it’s been a lifesaver when I was without a car. The cab company will be missed. I wish they wouldn’t pull out of Mesquite, but I guess the city isn’t big enough to support it. Another business gone; sad but not unexpected I guess.

I’m pretty sure the answer to your question would be: Businesses are not obligated to inform anyone of their personal business decisions, and they didn’t.
I understand that. My point was there are seniors and people without vehicles that may play or work at night when the bus doesn’t run that use the cab. Just a simple courtesy to let the community know. After all, if Ace Hardware or Smith’s were to close, I’m sure that there would be an announcement of some sort.
Amy, Lol, I know you know….but they aren’t a local business and don’t have the connections to Mesquite that Ace or Smith’s do, the DRIVERS may have had a connection but not the business. They, FRIAS, JUST sent us their letter yesterday, can you believe i?. Apparently they aren’t the courteous businesses we’re used to here and for that, I say good riddance, let someone earn some Uber dollars; the drivers will be connected.
Amy,
I was made aware of this early last week. Since the death of the founder of the company a few years ago, the Frias Corp. has been undergoing many changes and small operations were not part of their plan. This, however, gives us more opportunities for Uber drivers in Mesquite. I would hope they see the potential.
I am sure that would be true, but I am not sure there are any Uber or Lyft drivers here. I hope there are.
There is, there is….his name is Jim and I’m trying to get a hold of him for an interview. When I do, you’ll all know him.
