Mesquite United Methodist Women are presenting a one-day retreat for women of the community on February 24th, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. The theme this year is “CHOOSE JOY”. We will be celebrating with music, scripture, inspiration, and humor. Lunch is included, reservations are encouraged, and total cost is $20.000. The Mesquite Western Roundup featuring Cowboy Music and Poetry is scheduled for Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. and Feb. 24 at 1 and 7 p.m. It will be held at the Mesquite Community Theater, 150 N. Yucca Street. The event will include pre-show entertainment by the local musical group Strings ‘n’ Things. Special guests are Richard Elloyan and Steve Wade; Jeff Hoyt will return as the Master of Ceremonies.
Cowboys poets from Nevada, Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and South Dakota will be performing some of the old favorites as well as some of their own award-winning works.
This event is sponsored by Primex Plastics Corporation and the Mesquite Cowboy Poets Group. Tickets for the event are $10 per person which includes drawings for door prizes. Tickets are available in advance at Ready Golf, Mesquite Chamber of Commerce and the Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery. They may also be purchased on line anytime at www.mctnv.com.
Over the past decade, Pylon 7 on 7 Football has seen over 1,600 Athletes go on to play college football at the Division I level with over 170 players who have continued to the NFL. In commemoration of such achievements, Pylon is excited to host 7 on 7 Football in Mesquite on Feb. 23 & 24. Pylon 7 on 7 Football also hosts the AAU Junior Olympic Games and the nation’s most prestigious National Championship event to be played at AT&T Stadium, in Arlington, Texas.
