Emergency crews from Beaver Dam Fire Department and Arizona Department of Public Safety responded to mile marker 22 on northbound Interstate 15 in Arizona Monday morning for reports of a wrong way driver and collision.
“At about 3:38 we received the first 9-1-1 call,” said Sergeant John Bottoms with ADPS. “About two minutes later is when we received a report of a head on collision involving two vehicles.”
The unrestrained male driver of the wrong-way vehicle, which was registered in Northern Nevada, died as a result of injuries from the scene.
Two passengers in the other vehicle, registered in Missouri, were both restrained and sustained minor injuries. The female driver of that vehicle was also restrained, but due to the impact of the collision, “received severe injuries to her chest and was flown by medical helicopter to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George.”
Traffic heading northbound was closed for approximately two hours while the scene was processed and cleared.
