Mikele grew up on Truman Avenue in South Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from Granite High. He loved to go to the sand dunes to scare people. Mikele raced dirt bikes in his younger adult years and climbed on his first piece of heavy equipment with his father while they were clearing out fire breaks in Vernon, Utah. He must have liked it, because that was his career of choice for the rest of his life.
