Members of both the Virgin Valley High School girls’ soccer and volleyball teams will be headed to team camps next week at Dixie State University in St. George.

Coach Lori Barnum’s volleyball team will participate at Dixie State Camp for two days.

The Lady Bulldogs conducted their annual skills camp for high schoolers earlier this week at Virgin Valley High School.

The VVHS coaches and players will hold a skills camp for middle school and elementary age kids in July.

The Lady Bulldogs are coming off a 21-14 campaign last year that saw them go 7-3 in Sunrise League play. VVHS defeated Mojave, 3-0, in the opening match of the South 3-A Regional tournament but fell to Moapa Valley, 3-0, in the second round.

Meanwhile, Coach Bob Snell will take 24 girls to the Trailblazer Soccer Camp, which runs Monday through Thursday at DSU. The Lady Soccer Dogs plan to field two teams at camp.

Besides playing games in the morning and evenings, the campers will receive instruction from DSU coaches and players.

The girls have been conducting off-season workouts Tuesday and Thursday mornings at Hughes Middle School.

Players who will be attending Dixie State Camp are: Amelia Alejos, Emmelie Auguiano, Andrea Barbosa, Vanessa Barbosa, Sarah Barnum, Harlee Brito, Rainee Brito, Madison Cheney, Alyson Cook, Rachel Cook, Paola Garcia, Alayna Gately, Kallie Graves, Jordan Memmott, Alley Shaner, Sariah Sims, Zoey Tobler, Michelle Velez, Damaris Villalobos, Salma Villalobos, Taylor Waite, Kari Wakefield, Sarah Walters and Ally Wright.

The Lady Soccer Dogs went 12-7-3 overall last season and finished 8-1-1 in Sunrise League play. They defeated Sunrise Mountain, 4-2, in first round of the South 3-A Regional tournament before falling 2-1 to eventual state runner-up Western in the semifinals.
