It is once again the time of year that artists and poets merge their talents for the ‘Artists and Poets’ Exhibition at the Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery.

Poets begin by creating their artistry with words that hopefully inspire an Artist to select their poem and bring those words to life on canvas, in photography or in 3-D.

The April Artists and Poets exhibit, sponsored by Mesquite Gaming, is available to the public through April 29 free of charge. A reception provided by the Virgin Valley Artists Association (VVAA) is set for April 20 from 4-6 p.m. at the Gallery to honor the award winners. The Sponsor’s Choice and People’s Choice awards will also be announced at the reception.

While you’re at the gallery don’t forget to check out the April Artist of the Month, Kent Lang. His work is displayed in the back room of the gallery.

After college Kent worked in a five-year assistantship program at Reed Whipple Cultural Center in Las Vegas where he assisted in ceramic class work and tutored under the directorship of Jem Campbell, a master ceramicist in the Las Vegas area. His recent education has included several instructional classes in pottery as presented by the VVAA.

The Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery is operated by the VVAA. VVAA members provide the original artwork that is shown in the gallery and gift shop.
