The Virgin Valley High School Bulldog track and field squads won a Tri-Meet on Wednesday March 15 against Chaparral and Del Sol High Schools. The men’s team scored 81.5 points to Del Sol’s 66.5 and Chaparral’s 24 points. The girl’s won 92 to 42 for Del Sol and 33 points for Chaparral.

The Bulldogs men’s team was led by track first place winners Tyson Wilson in the 400 meters, Victor Colmenero in the 800 meters, Jordy Saldana in the 1600 meters, 4×400 meter relay team composed of Tyson Wilson, Oscar Cuellar, Christian Martinez and Vincente Pinto and the 4×800 meter relay team of Pinto, Colmenero, Jesus Navarro, and Ryan Rushton.  Field winners for the Dawgs were Jaden Dalton in the shot, Reid Jensen in the discus, Brogan Bingham, in the pole vault and finally Jaiden Juan in the triple jump. Second place winners were Pedro Osuna in the 200 meter dash, Juan in the broad jump, Martinez in the 300 meter hurdles, Wilson in the discus and Ty Bryant in the pole vault.

The Bulldog’s ladies track team was led by Abbie Barnum with firsts in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles, Viviana Vega first in the 400 meters, Sarah Walters first in the 800 meter run, the Bulldog 4×100 relay team of Nikita Eskelsen, Abbie Barnum, Macee Bundy and Emily Teerlink won easily. Second place track winners were Emily Teerlink in the 100 meters, Macee Bundy in the 200 meter dashes and Alyssa Ponce in the 1600 meter run. Bulldog field event winners were Bernice Fiso in the shot-putt and discus, Elena Andelin in the high jump, Cassadee Reber in the pole vault and Hailee Thornly in the triple jump. The Bulldogs will host the next two meets on March 22 and 30.
