Bulldog running back Elisabeth DeLeon #6 skirts left end on her way to pay dirt during the Bulldogs 33-28 loss to Arbor View Wed. night in the Dawg Pound.

The Virgin Valley High School’s vaunted passing attack was shut down by the wind Friday night in the Dawg Pound, but it couldn’t stop Katie Zuniga and Elisabeth DeLeon’s quick feet as the Bulldogs rolled up 259 yards on the ground in a 20-7 win over Bonanza High School. Zuniga had 142 yards on 15 carries for a 9+ yard per carry average including two touchdowns and DeLeon racked up 86 yards on 13 carries. Lady Dawg quarter back added 19 yards and a touchdown on five carries.

Bonanza took a 7-6 lead after a half of play as the Bulldogs had trouble sustaining their offense due to the high winds. The second half was another story as the undefeated Bonanza squad could not stop the Bulldogs rushing attack. The Bulldog defense shut down the Bengals and controlled the ball to win 20-7. Makenzie Leishman and Dylan Bryant caught extra point passes to help the Dawgs in their win. Leishman and Shalee Hafen led the Dawg defense with six tackles each. The win, kept the Dawgs fifth in the coaches poll for Southern Nevada. The Gridiron Gals will not play again until Jan.4 2017 when they travel to Boulder City to face the #3 Eagles in the season opener. The Eagles tasted their first defeat in 4 years last week. The Bulldogs will host Chaparral on Jan.6 in the Dawg Pound.
