The Virgin Valley High School Lady Bulldogs defeated the Mojave High School Rattlers Saturday afternoon 52-43 to move into the BIT finals against Panguitch High School (Utah) who dispatched Moapa High School High in an earlier semi-final game. The Bulldogs took an 11-4 lead after one period of play and never trailed the rest of the way as they won 52-43. Bulldog Brianna Todd had 7 points in the first to lead the Dawgs. Todd continued her offensive display with five more points in the second period as the Dawgs led 24-18 at the break.

The Dawgs point guard Nathalie Lagamayo had a great second half for the Dawgs as she distributed the ball between her teammates. The Bulldogs increased their lead to 36-25 after three periods. Todd added another six points to lead the Dawgs attack. The Rattlers came to life to begin the fourth and final period as they hit three consecutive three balls for 9 points cutting the Bulldog lead to 38-36 with a little less than four minutes remaining. The Bulldogs responded with five points from Todd to move out to a 45-39 advantage. The Bulldogs took advantage of Rattler fouls hitting seven free throws down the stretch to insure the victory. Todd finished with 24 points followed by 11 points from Emma Barnum. Bernice Fiso had a good game on the boards plus 8 points and guard Lagamayo finished with 7 points. The championship match up later in the evening should be a good game. Panguitch has won the last three titles.
