The Mesquite Rotary Club partnered with the Mesquite Local News this year to bring back an old tradition of awarding residences and businesses who had the best decorations in December for the holiday season.

In all, eight houses and two businesses competed for a $25 cash prize in one of four categories.

The residents at 1286 Shane Canyon in Sun City took the award for Most Lights while the decorations at 332 Kelkim St. took the award for Most Animated.

The award for Best Christmas Theme was a tie this year between 1289 Shane Canyon and 573 Casa Grande Circle.

Mesquite Self Storage, located at 681 Hardy Way took the award for Best Business. “We really urge the community to go see this one,” said Roberta Bird, co-organizer for this year’s contest. “It’s awesome.”

There was a fifth category for Best Neighborhood, but no one entered.

For photos of most of the entries, check out the special section in today’s MLN, where several of the houses are featured.

“We’re honored to be a part of this community tradition,” said MLN Editor Barbara Ellestad. “We look forward to working with the Mesquite Rotary in the future.”
