On Saturday, Nov.26, at approximately 2:30 a.m. an observant Mesquite Police Officer located a vehicle traveling through Mesquite which had been reported as stolen out of Mesquite in July. The officer safely stopped the vehicle and interviewed both the male driver and the male passenger.
Through the officer’s investigation, he learned the driver was a fugitive from justice out of Arizona and had an active felony warrant for his arrest for possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of methamphetamines. The passenger also had an active felony warrant for his arrest out of the Las Vegas Justice Court.
Both the driver and the passenger were taken into custody for the warrants and received the additional criminal charges.
Cristoval Romero, 40, of St George, Utah, was arrested and charged with one felony count of possession of a stolen vehicle and one felony count of fugitive from another state with a warrant.
Joel Segler, 37, of St George, Utah, was arrested and charged with one felony count of possession of a stolen vehicle. Segler was also taken into custody for the active felony warrant out of the Las Vegas Justice Court.
The stolen vehicle was processed for evidence and then returned to the owner’s custody. Mesquite Police Chief Troy Tanner said “This is yet another example of the caliber of people we have working for the Mesquite Police Department. This officer was out and about at 2:30 a.m. proactively looking for criminal activity. I am proud of my police officers and the quality work they perform on a daily basis.”
Due to the felony charges, both suspects were transported and booked into the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
