obituary-syndergaard-12-01-16Mary Ellen Syndergaard, 79, passed away on November 23, 2016 at her home in Mesquite, NV. She was born on March 15, 1937 in Upalco, UT to Calvin Barker and Thelma Mathews. She married James Erwyn Syndergaard in Salt Lake City, UT on February 14, 1959 and was later sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on February 14, 1975.

Mary’s life was centered around her family. She spent as much time as she could with her two children, Karole Ann and J. Blake. Much of her time later in her life was spent passing on family traditions, and making sure her family was taken care of. Mary was a faithful Utah Jazz Grandma (fan), and would be hard pressed to miss a game. Mary was also an avid reader and she enjoyed her cooking shows. She was a great cook, and one grandchild emphatically stated that she made the best eggs in the world. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and held many callings which she loved. Mary, as well as the family, wanted to express her gratitude to the staff and nurses of Highland Manor, Meals on Wheels, and Kinder Care.

Mary is survived by her two children; Karole Ann Monte (David) and James Blake Syndergaard (Michelle), eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Mary is preceded in death by her husband, James Erwyn Syndergaard.
