The Virgin Valley High School Bulldog track and field team competed at the 1-A Southern Regional meet at Boulder City Friday and Saturday, May 13 and 14. Leading the way for the Bulldogs were hurdlers Kai Mitchell and Abigail Barnum who qualified for state in two events. Mitchell won his specialty, the 300 meter hurdles, with a time of 39.84 edging out RJ Hubert of Moapa Valley by two one hundredths of a second. Hubert reversed the winning positions in the 110 meter high hurdles winning easily with Mitchell holding down second place. The Bulldog men scored 28.5 points in the meet. Also performing well for the Bulldogs were Nick Cox, who had a sixth place finish in the 800 meters and Tyler Reber and Brogan Bingham with sixth and seventh place respectively in the pole vault.

Leading the way for the Bulldog women were Abigail Barnum and Bernice Fiso who helped the Dawgs to a sixth place finish with 44 points. Barnum brought home two silver medals for her second place finishes in the 110 meter and 300 meter hurdles. Barnum was barely edged out in both events by hundredths of a second. Fiso had a second in the discus and a sixth place finish in the shot put. Bulldog Dylan Bryant qualified for state with a second place finish in the pole vault. The track and field season ends Friday and Saturday, May 20 and 21 with the state meet in Carson City.
