The motto at Stateline Casino has always been centered around “Good Times, Great Friends,” but on May 7, it was especially that because of the customers who showed up to celebrate the Slight’s nine-year anniversary since buying from the previous owners.
Located at 490 W. Mesquite Blvd, Stateline has been a local favorite for many years and has the only pool tables in Mesquite. Throw in an active live entertainment schedule, some karaoke and dart tournaments and it’s plain to see why so many locals are loyal.
“It’s all about having fun,” said co-owner Kurt Slight. “That’s our priority – to make sure it’s always a fun time.” Slight also noted that there have been some great changes in the past year, including an improved ventilation system that filters out the cigarette smoke better. Other improvements are planned for the next six to seven months, including some new paint to the inside and outside, as well as finding a stable client to reopen the restaurant portion of the facility.
Current performers at Stateline during their live entertainment events include local band Bottoms Up as well as Joe Sherman and occasionally DJ#Juan. For their anniversary, Slight invited Identity Crisis, a band from St. George to play. Identity Crisis is also the 2016 Champion of Sonny Boys BBQfest Battle of the Bands from March.
Always a nice place to visit. Maybe they can open up a sub shop for the patrons. Nicest place to relax. Congrats to the owners.
That’s wonderful. I’d love to see a full time restaurant open like it was way back in the late 80’s and 90’s.. It was homemade food, breakfast, lunch and dinner.. All American great food. 🙂 Congrats on your 9 years..
Fun place for a cold beer. The people are nice and I even win sometimes. Congratulations!
I have a service dog and the male bartender told me I couldn’t be in the place with my dog. I have all of her certification information and the dog carries tags that shows she is a service dog. I suffer from seizures and my dog alerts me before I have a seizures giving me anywhere to 30 mins to a hour to get to a safe place before the seizure happens. My dog has been certified and trained to accompany me where ever I go. Allowing me to live as normal as a life as I can. The bartender would not even listen to me but instead called the police on me. Upon arrival the police told me they wanted me trespassed from the property simply because of my service dog. I intend to pursue this issue and will be suing this bar for discriminating against me because of a trained federally protected service animal that is pertinent to my well being and safety. The laws are clear on this issue and I am appalled and saddened by the behavior of this bartender that appears to think he is above the law. Federal law not only allows me to enter and use any facility that the public has access to. Not only have I spent my money in their place but I have never been treated so ignorantly as I was today. I will be pursuing this in the courts. It was wrong the way I was treated and embarrassed over something that I am legally allowed to have to assist me in my everyday life. State Line I will be in touch and you will apologize and pay me for the embarrassment and treatment I received today.
