Mesquite Days Old Fashioned Bake-Off didn’t have many participants this year but the four people who did compete brought the tastiest strawberry treats one could imagine.

Competitors Sam Reber, Lois Clayton, Jacquie Adams and Nancy Hewett brought their best to the table and judges Leora Hillius, Krissy Woods Thornton and Roy Barnum were more than eager to dive into the yummy deserts.

Each year the main ingredient changes and this, the sixth year, included all things strawberry. Hewett won first place with her ‘Tuxedo, Strawberry Cheesecake Parfaits’ and $40 in prize money.

Second place and $30 went to Jacquie Adams for her ‘Strawberry, Banana Splits’ which were stuffed strawberries set atop a candy shell filled with chocolate mousse and drizzled with sauce and sprinkles or nuts.

Sam Reber came in third with his ‘Strawberry Shortcake Delights’ and the final prize went to Lois Clayton who entered a delicious strawberry, pretzel, jello salad that had all the judges’ mouths watering.
