The Virgin Valley High School Lady Bulldog softball team’s playoff hopes took a hit Thursday afternoon, April 28 at TECH as they lost to the Roadrunners 11-0. The Dawgs went into Thursday’s game tied with TECH for the fourth playoff spot in the 1-A Sunrise League with 6-5 records. The Bulldogs had a great opportunity after defeating Desert Pines 17-5 Wednesday night, April 27 in the Dawg Pound with the Roadrunners losing at Boulder City.

The Lady Bulldogs jumped on the Jaguars early taking a 11-3 lead after two innings of play behind the pitching of Savannah Price and Adri Wakefield. Desert Pines led 2-0 after one half of inning of play before the Dawgs scored two in the bottom of the first to tie the game 2-2. The Jaguars took back the lead 3-2 in the top of the second before the Bulldogs exploded for 11 runs to retake the lead 11-3.

Ashley Faught got the Dawgs rolling with a walk to begin the rally. Faught moved to second on a Jaguar error followed by singles from Price and Taylor Barnum, a two run double by Janella Fiso, finished by a Faught double to end the rally with the Dawgs up 11-3.

The Bulldogs added two runs in the third inning and four in the fourth to win easily 17-5. Taylor Barnum and Fiso had three jits each to lead the Dawgs. Fiso had three RBI’s and Barnum added two. The win tied the Dawgs with TECH at 6-5.
