To help kick off Mesquite Days 2016, the Mesquite Days Celebration Committee is promising a bigger and better year for Family Fun Night at the Old Mill Ball Parks and the Mesquite Recreation Center.

At the ball fields, local businesses and nonprofits will have free live music, bounce houses, sack races, wheel barrel races, egg spoon race, catch the greased pig & chicken, jell-o eating contest, hot dog contest, carnival games and of course, the famous tug of war competition, which has expanded this year to include both a water and a mud pit tug of war. Only the winners will remain dry.

The event kicks off at 5 p.m. and will close around 8:30. For more information, contact Krissy Thornton at 702-346-5290 or kthornton@mesquitenv.gov.

Kids and adults enjoyed their fair share of eating contests for free at the first annual Family Fun Night in 2015. This year looks to promise that and possibly more due to the outpouring support from the community and the success of the event last year. Photo by Stephanie Frehner.
