With comedy, variety, cuteness and, of course, a lot of dancing, the Mesquite Toes 2016 Spring Dance Spectacular offered the audience everything they could have hoped for and lived up to the name; it was truly a spectacular show.

On April 14, 15 and 16, the MTTT women, men and children took to the stage and gave the audience a very different kind of show that incorporated a trip across the country. This year, Vicki Eckman and the various Toes Teams outdid themselves, taking the audience on tour of their own various travels. The first themed show ever, “Traveling with the Toes” was quite the 90-minute vacation.

The Toes delighted the audience with some bargain bin Day-Glo costumes right out of the gate and set the stage for adventure, whimsy and fun. Some younger travelers, AKA The Mesquite Toes kids, joined the MTTT on their latest journey and the entire troupe, young and old, incorporated quite a bit of musical theatre into the repertoire. The Sun City Sound Guys had the audience nearly rolling on the floor with their rendition of John Denver’s “18 Holes,” a spin-off of the Johnny Cash Classic “Sixteen Tons.”

Throughout the entire show the audience responded with tons of laughter, applause and far too many “oohs and aahs” to count. From Broadway to Hollywood and even to the South Pacific and back home again, it was a trip well worth taking.
