“It’s the first time since realignment that VVHS has won both boy and girl meets,” said Virgin Valley High School Bulldog coach Gary Hartman. “We had an outstanding performance with many personal bests.”

The Bulldog boys team won their five-way meet Wednesday, April 6, with 112 points followed by Clark with 110 points, host Chaparral with 68 points, Western with 55 and Andre Agassi High School with 22 points.

Leading the way for the Dawgs were Kai Mitchell in the 300 meter hurdles with a personal best 41.06, Danell Wilkins with a personal best in the 110 meter high hurdles, Reid Jensen with wins in both weight events and Charles Erickson who led a Bulldog sweep of the pole vault.

Mitchell ran a leg on the winning 4×400 relay team alongside Pedro Osuna, Nick Cox and Tyson Wilson. The Bulldog 4×800 relay team composed of Ryan Rushton, Vincente Pinto, Justin Casares and Jacob Zinsky won by a comfortable margin.

On the girl side, Virgin Valley easily defeated the competition with 144 points, followed by Agassi with 65 points, Chaparral with 62, Clark with 54 and Western with 37 points. Kaydee Bingham had another outstanding day winning the 200 meter dash and anchoring the winning 4×100 relay team with teammates Emma Barnum, Macee Bundy and Abi Barnum who placed second in the 100 meter dash and long jump. Abi Barnum won the 300 meter hurdles. Emma Barnum added a first place in the high jump, Dylan Bryant had a first in the pole vault and Janella Fiso won both weight events. Mikayla Brotherson finished first in the triple jump.

The Lady Dawg relay teams did well winning both the 4×400 and 4×800 meters. The winning 4×400 meter relay squad included Hannah Haviland, Ana Tehuitzil, Sarah Wilson and Cassie Powers. Wilson, Tuhuitzil, Citillali Orozco and Julia Ramirez ran legs on the winning 4×800 squad.

The Bulldog track teams will compete in the annual huge Richard Lewis Invitational at Moapa Valley on Friday, April 15. Your last chance to see the Bulldogs in action at home will be on April 26
