The Virgin Valley High School girl and boy track teams had no answer in stopping a large contingent of Faith Lutheran Crusaders from winning a quad meet Wednesday March 16 at the Dawg Pound. The Crusaders won both sides of the meet winning the boy’s meet with 101.5 points to the Dawgs 72 points. Moapa Valley trailed with 53 points followed by Western with 41.5. Leading the way for the Dawgs were Kai Mitchell, Dallon Wolfe and Danell Wilkins. Mitchell was the leading point getter for the Bulldogs, blowing out the competition in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 42.60 seconds nearly 02.05 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor. Mitchell was in the winning 4X100 relay team with Wilkins, Wolfe and Pedro Osuna. He also placed second in the high jump and third in the long jump. Wilkins edged Wolfe to win the 110 meter high hurdles. In addition to a second in the highs, Wolfe garnered a third in the high jump and a fourth in the 300 meter hurdles. Other top competitors for the Bulldogs were Ryan Rushton with a second in the 800 meter run plus a second in the 4X800 meter relay alongside Angel Gonzales, Richard Nichols and Justin Cazares. Tyson Wilson placed second in the shot-putt, Brogan Bingham and Nick Cox placed third in the pole vault and triple jump respectively. The Bulldogs next meet will be at Faith Lutheran on March 29.
