The Roadrunners from TECH High School ruined the Virgin Valley High School 1-A Sunrise League opener Wednesday afternoon, March 16, defeating the Bulldogs 11-5 at the Dawg Pound.

The Roadrunners opened the top of the first with one run to take a 1-0 lead. The Roadrunners added two more runs in the top of the second on two singles and a Bulldog error to increase their lead to 3-0. The Bulldogs cut the Roadrunners lead with one run in the bottom of the second. Jayden Perkins began the inning with a single, and scored on a Roadrunner error. The TECH squad jumped on the Dawgs with four runs on four hits to take a 7-1 lead going into the bottom of the third. The Bulldog bats woke up in the third scoring four runs after two outs cutting the TECH lead to 7-5. Easton Jensen began the rally with a single followed by singles from Cade Anderson and Dillon Fuqua. The Roadrunners responded with four runs in the top of the fourth increasing their lead to 11-5. The Bulldogs attempted a rally in the fourth on straight singles by Dallen Tanner and Jacob Ruvalcaba but TECH’s Gabe Komode pitched four innings in relief to shut down the Dawgs making the final score 11-5.

Cade Anderson led the Dawgs with two hits and Marcelo Lara pitched three scoreless inning in relief.

The Dawgs travel to Chaparral On Friday, March 18 hoping to get their first league win of the season. The Bulldogs next home game will be on April 1 when they host perennial powerhouse Boulder City.
