He honed his plastic surgery skills on U.S. Marines and sailors returning from the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan. Now, Dr. George Hahm is using his expertise on patients in Mesquite through his new Zen Medical Aesthetics clinic that opened Saturday, Jan. 23.

“I gained a lot of experience in reconstructive surgery while I served in the U.S. Navy for 10 years,” Dr. Hahm said. “I spent four years as a staff surgeon and then left the Navy in August 2014.”

The Zen Medical Aesthetics clinic held an open house to introduce services to local Mesquite residents. The clinic, located at 350 Falcon Ridge Parkway, Suite #500 was packed with potential patients perusing various skin products and reviewing a list of services available to them. The open house also featured a raffle for clinical services with all proceeds going to the Mesquite HELP Cancer Society.

After being offered multiple jobs in other locations, Dr. Hahm and his wife, Lisa decided to settle in Mesquite. “We were looking for a place that offered an excellent quality of life and a warm climate. Here we have great golf, great weather and sun.”

Dr. Hahm is a practicing general surgeon at Mesa View Regional Hospital during the week. He and Lisa will operate the Zen Medical clinic on Saturdays with a plan to eventually see patients through the week.

Lisa Hahm has over 20 years of nursing experience including a background in plastic surgery, endovascular surgery and five years as an aesthetic nurse.

Together they plan to offer patients dermal fillers and botox injections, with skin rejuvenation peels and radio frequency aesthetics like cellulite reductions and disabling nerves to reduce wrinkles in the works.

“What bothers me the most about most aesthetics procedures is that the practitioner doesn’t always tailor a plan to the individual patient. We want to be less aggressive about doing injections and create a personalized treatment plan for each person that we serve,” Dr. Hahm said. “General surgical procedures tend to always be the same. The Zen Medical Aesthetics clinic gives me an artistic outlet.”
