“My wife wanted to go to a warm climate and Mesquite needed someone with my skills,” Gary Fulkerson, PA-C, said about his decision to join Mesa View Regional Hospital specializing in Pediatric Medicine.
Fulkerson has been a practicing pediatric Physician Assistant since 1994. After earning his Bachelor of Science and Physician Assistant Certification from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center he started his career in the Cherokee Nation in Stillwater, Oklahoma. “We practiced a lot of ‘cowboy medicine’ through necessity.”
He served 10 years at Mountain View Pediatrics in Cedar City, UT where he was responsible for outpatient and inpatient pediatric care including care of newborns, general pediatrics and radiologic diagnostics. Most recently, he was working in Tooele, UT before moving briefly to Hurricane, UT.
He and his wife, Lynnell, moved to Mesquite last November and he began working with Dr. Cort Leavitt in the Family Practice clinic at Mesa View Medical Group to provide comprehensive pediatric and newborn care.
“Currently, I’m available for patients five days a week. If necessary, I’ll begin evening hours for those parents that work during the day,” Fulkerson said.
“Gary Fulkerson is an accomplished and experienced Pediatric Physician Assistant and a welcome addition to our medical staff and to the community,” said Patty Holden, CEO for Mesa View Regional Hospital.
Fulkerson and his wife of 37 years, are empty-nesters with four grown children and 11 grandchildren. His wife is a Nurse Educator with Western Governors University and they both enjoy outdoor activities including exploring with four-wheel ATV’s, hiking, gardening and bee-keeping among others. As a history buff, Fulkerson enjoys researching ancient manuscripts.
