Breakfast-12-17-15-02On Saturday, Dec. 12, the Mesquite Senior Center hosted Breakfast with Santa for the community to come enjoy the season with others.

With a feast of ham, potatoes, fruit and eggs, about 250 people showed up to support the event. As if that wasn’t enough, some of those people forked over some festive cash for a total of $558 in ticket sales for the raffle being offered as well as another $530 for the baked goods that were for sale at the time.

“This is just so amazing,” said Griseyda Belalcazar, Senior Services Supervisor. “The bake sale was a huge success!”

The money raised from the event will go towards their costs to provide for members of the community and to offset recent budget cuts.

Even with all the budget cuts, your contributions have allowed us to maintain the same level of services to the nutrition program,” noted Belalcazar.

Mayor Al Litman was also in attendance and said he was pleased with the turnout.

“It’s a busy time of the year here,” he said, “and it’s great to see such a great turnout.”

Breakfast-12-17-15-01The raffle, which is currently still open through Dec. 24 at 10:30 a.m., is for a basket donated by Danielle’s Chocolates, featuring some of their favorite goodies from the season. Tickets are still available at the Senior Center for $1 per ticket or 6 tickets for $5. For more information on this and other ways to help the Mesquite Senior Center, call Belalcazar at 702-346-5290.
