Dear Editor,

Upon reflection of my belief that Barbara Ellestad has a conflict of interest being a Journalist and Elected Official at the same time, I asked Siri to help me and the “The Journalists Ethics Code” was brought to my attention.

It says the norms of the code are not obligatory requirements and are formulated as moral guidelines and standards. It goes on to say a journalist should remain neutral and objective and that Bias in Commentary is a violation of the principles of journalistic ethics. Then comes the statement “Journalists and Editors should not have additional jobs or occupy elected or administrative positions, it compromises their moral impeccability.” That, “Conflicts of interest damage the prestige of mass media.”

Barbara Ellestad has been characterizing my complaint as a “personal vendetta” but as anyone can see in the Ethics Code of the profession she has chosen, it confirms what I have been saying.

I have nothing against Barbara doing one job or the other. I believe she should make a choice.
