The Virgin Valley High School girl flag football team kicked off the 2015-2016 season with an easy 46-0 win over the Western High School Warriors Tuesday night, Dec. 1 in the Dawg Pound.
The Lady Dawgs got on the scoreboard early behind the running of sophomore Katie Zuniga. Zuniga ran for two touchdowns in the first 11 minutes of the game. Bulldog wide receiver Dylan Bryant intercepted a warrior pass setting up the third T.D. of the game. Bryant was on the end of a 19 yard pass from Q.B. Kallie Graves giving the Dawgs a 20-0 lead with 12 minutes remaining in the first half of play. Bryant and Graves would team up again on a 25 yard T.D. as time expired.
The Lady Dawgs led 26-0 at the break. Defensive back Markell Ludvigson added an interception during the first half of play.
The Bulldog girls defense made the Warriors pay dearly on the first possession of the second half as Falen Hafen intercepted a Warrior pass on the 35 yard line. A minute later Bulldog Elizabeth DeLeon stood in the end zone after a 35 yard run increasing the Dawgs lead to 32-0. DeLeon added another T.D run with 15 minutes remaining in the half.
Bulldog Emily Teerlink blew the game wide open on a 55 yard scamper around left end for six points and a 44-0 Bulldog lead. The Bulldogs would get a safety late in the game making the final score 46-0 in favor of the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs host Spring Valley Thursday, Dec. 3 at 4:30 p.m. in the Dawg Pound.
