The holiday season in the Valley has always been celebrated with great enthusiasm. This year is no different. The Virgin Valley Heritage Museum will host a “Build a Cookie House” competition on Nov. 21 between 1:00 and 3:30 p.m. in the classroom between the Art Gallery and the Museum. This family-friendly competition involves building houses out of graham crackers and decorating them with a variety of candies. Let your imagination be your guide.

The Museum will supply the crackers, icing and candy. Participants can also bring their own candy to use for decorating. There will be three age categories: kids ages 5 and under, kids 6-12, and all kids 13 and older. The judging will take place at 3 p.m.

Historically, the entrance fee for these types of events was paid in produce. In the spirit of this tradition, the entry fee for this competition is a can of food. All the food donations will be given the local food bank.

The best part of the activity is that you will be able to take your creations home and devour them.

As always, the Museum wishes to express its gratitude to the City of Mesquite and the Art Gallery for their continued support of museum activities.
