The Virgin Valley High School girl volleyball team’s run of 12 straight wins ended Thursday night at faith Lutheran High School where the Mountain Lions from Sierra Vista High School defeated the Bulldogs 3-1 ending the Dawgs hope for a birth in the state tournament.

The Dawgs won the first set 25-22 and seemed to be on the verge of a two set advantage before Sierra Vista rallied to win 28-26. The comeback win gave the momentum to the Mountain Lions who won the next two sets 25-18 and 25-16 to win the match 3-1. Leading the way for the Dawgs were Janella Fiso with 40 assists, 11 digs and two aces; Bernice Fiso with 22 kills, 11 digs and two aces; Kaydee Bingham with 12 kills, two assists and two aces; and Emma Barnum with 5 kills two blocks and 11 digs. The win dropped the Bulldogs’ season record to 25-8 including a perfect 14-0 record in Sunrise Conference play. It was a great season for the Lady Dawgs and Coach Lori Barnum and her staff.
