LIRA’S BIRDIE BEATS CHAMBERS

Bob Chambers (82) and Manny Lira (90) tied for first place low net at 68 at the Palms golf course on Thursday.  Chambers remarked, “ I could have been somebody had it not been for the quadruple eight on the ninth hole”.  But Lira did what he had to do and that was birdie the number one handicap hole the par five fourth while long ball smasher Chambers got just a par.  Joel Reilly playing with Lira also had a great round firing a 42-45-87 to tie Bill Irace (83) at net 70.  Reilly earned the 3rd spot going par, par and Irace went par, bogey on the long par four 18th hole.  New member Rick Scholl (81) is learning the local courses and netted 72 for the fifth and final position.  Andrew Yeh recorded two double bogeys for a soft round of 76 to earn medalist.  Neil Hendricks shot 39-41-80 for second low gross.  Welcome back “Snowballs” John Sabraw, Glade Flanigan, Jeff Hoyt, Gary Denhalter, Russ Clark and Jim Barfknecht.
