There was a sea of green Thursday night in the Dawg House as students, parents, alumni and the Mesquite community joined to honor fall sports seniors and homecoming royalty. There was pretty much standing room only when the VVHS Percussion Band warmed up the enthusiastic crowd. Savannah Wilson got the ball rolling by introducing the Middle School Dancers who performed for the assembly. Lee then introduced school councilor Justin Ludvigson, MC who took over the microphone and continued the evening’s program.
Ludvigson then introduced individual seniors, with their parents, who participated in fall sports, tennis, soccer, football, girl’s golf, cross country and volleyball. Of course certain seniors received huge cheers from their school mates. The program continued with the VVHS drill team led by Leah Leavitt and Taylor Bulloch who performed a routine to the delight of the crowd.
Next up was the big event for the kids, the introductions of the Homecoming King and Queen and their court. Prince and Princesses by class, were, Tristan Roman/Carly Hughes ninth grade, Brogan Bingham/Andrea Barbosa tenth grade, Luke Durbin/Bernice Fiso eleventh grade and Jaron Linge/Janella Fiso twelfth grade. Finally a huge roar went out as Jairo Vallejo and Brooke Lee were introduced as 2015 Homecoming King and Queen.
Ludvigson continued the program introducing the VVHS cheerleaders and their captains Tiffany Giebink and Brooke Lee who led their charges in a routine. The finale featured alumni cheerleaders and varsity cheerleaders leading the throng in the VVHS Fight Song. The event officially ended with hundreds of students, parents and alumni milling around getting reacquainted and enjoying family.
Prior to the Pep Rally, there was a Homecoming Parade along Mesquite Boulevard. For all of the photos, Click Here.
