Mesquite Fine Art Gallery shows off the works of eight regional arts groups this month. The annual Mesquite Fine Art Invitational exhibition is organized by Virgin Valley Artists Association, operator of the Mesquite Fine Arts Gallery. VVAA has shared its gallery space with select artists for years, but in 2012 they kicked it up a notch and invited all the best arts groups in the region to converge in a joint exhibition. This year the Invitational shows Aug 31 to Sept. 26.
The Invitational gives both the local community and the region at large a chance to experience the diverse work of the fine artists who reside in neighboring towns. Mesquite also wants to introduce more people to the exceptional gallery it is fortunate to possess. Many cities and arts groups do not have a thriving gallery where local artists can hang and sell their work. Mesquite has a unique gem in its member-run gallery that opened its doors in 2003.
Exhibiting this year are Boulder City Art Guild, City Lights Art Gallery of Henderson, Moapa Art Guild, Spring Mountain Art Guild of Pahrump, Dixie Watercolor Society, Southern Utah Watercolor Society, Southern Utah Art Guild, and gallery host, Virgin Valley Artists Association.
The Invitational exhibition is limited to wall art, and pieces on display are limited to a 30” maximum dimension to allow display of as many pieces of art, from as many artists, as possible.
Randi Case, president of Spring Mountain Art Guild, was excited to bring her members’ art to Mesquite. SMAG has participated in this show since its beginning. “We are so happy to be invited. We hope to have our own gallery soon.” Win Barney and Daphne Schroth, of Dixie Watercolor Society, St George, brought a large display of paintings to Mesquite. Many of their members have competed in Mesquite exhibitions and have even taught workshops for VVAA. “Our members are wonderful artists and we love to show their work here,” commented Daphne, who is DWS president this year.
Ceramics and the large variety of giftware on display throughout the gallery are created by VVAA. All art is offered for sale, providing an outstanding array of original works priced within reach of even the moderate art collector.
