Travelers using I-15 both northbound and southbound need to plan for major delays Sunday night and Monday morning as the Arizona Department of Transportation works to remove the temporary concrete walls through the gorge.

According to Arizona Highway Patrol Sergeant John Bottoms, the crews will be doing rolling traffic breaks that will allow them to remove the walls safely.

Delays through the gorge are expected to be 30 minutes or more.

Thankfully, these traffic breaks will occur between 10 p.m. Sunday night and 8 a.m. on Monday morning, when there is a lesser amount of traffic.

Bottoms also reminded motorists to stay alert and to keep a safe distance behind the vehicles in front of them.

As always, motorists wishing to avoid the delays can take Old Highway 91 from Mesquite or at Exit 8 off of I-15 and travel to St. George that way, and vise-versa.
