On Tuesday, the Lee family confirmed to Mesquite Local News that it plans to remodel and reopen the hotel formerly known as the Mesquite Star as a non-gaming hotel. Construction and remodeling began on Monday on the facility located on Sandhill Boulevard adjacent to the I-15 Exit 122.

The announcement comes after months of work in partnership with the City of Mesquite, Mesquite Regional Business and State of Nevada to pave the way for Mesquite’s first new resort opening in more than a decade.

“We’re excited to get people working on the project. We’ll have much more to share about our visions and hopes for the property in the coming weeks. I’d like to thank the local community and everyone who has helped bring us to this point. We hope the project will be a welcomed and meaningful addition to the Mesquite community and economy,” said Andre Carrier, the property’s  chief operating officer.

The Mesquite Star was constructed in the late 1990s as a hotel casino but was shuttered just two years later. Randy Black, of Black Gaming and later Mesquite Gaming, purchased the property shortly after but never re-opened the building. Mesquite Gaming sold the Star to the Lee family, which owns the Eureka Casino Hotel in early 2013.
