The Speed and agility camp is designed for the individuals (Boys & Girls) with varying degrees of athletic ability, all are welcome to come and join in, if you truly like to work hard you’re sure to see improvements in speed, agility, flexibility, strength and self-confidence.
The more you put in the more you get out. The goal is help every participant become better, no matter what level of performance he/she may initially possess. Age limit, we would like to see grade levels 2nd – 8th, the programs is modified to reduce difficulty and duration to accommodate younger athletes’ special needs making the program safe for all ages. Parents are welcome to come and join and get a work out in.
We will combine Plyometrcis, Strength Training and resistance training. The program will start on July 13, Monday at 6:00am at the Mesquite Recreation Center Synthetic soccer Field Monday – Thursday. There will be 3 weeks as the season will start soon after this, there will be some weather acclimation training involved.
We ask that you bring plenty of water, a towel and swim shorts on Thursday as we will be in the water doing some resistance training. This training will help your athletes when they start their season in Football, Soccer and anything else they would like to do.
The program is Free to all and we look forward to seeing you on Monday the 13 of July!
The purpose and/or goals of the youth programs is to provide a program where all kids can learn to play and then gain the confidence and desire to keep improving! The youth can learn the fundamentals of a sport and learn sportsmanship through participation. The ultimate goal is to encourage skill development and foster a positive attitude.
Summer Youth Camp
For both parents and kids, it’s never too early to start thinking about summer programs. Parents are concerned with ensuring that their children are engaged in activities that keep their minds and bodies active when school lets out for the summer. Youngsters eagerly anticipate the free time, and simply want to ha ve fun and learn something new. The Mesquite Recreation and Parks Department’s Summer Youth Camps are a solution designed to keep everyone happy this summer. The hours of operation are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday (No early drop-off or late pick-up). The camp is designed for boys and girls ages kindergarten to 5th grade. Must be potty trained.
- The (2) Second session of Summer Camp begins July 6 – July 16, 2015, Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sixty camp spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The camp is designed for boys and girls ages kindergarten to 5th grade
- The (3) Third session of Summer Camp begins July 27 – August 06, 2015, Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sixty camp spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The camp is designed for boys and girls ages kindergarten to 5th grade
Children are required to bring a towel, swim suit, a sack lunch, a snack and a bottle of water; if your child is not a skilled swimmer they will be required to bring a lifejacket during swim time and will wear it during swim time (Lifejackets must be Coast Guard Approved). Activities will be held at the Mesquite Recreation Center & the Mesquite Campus Deuce facility.
The pick-up and drop off locations will be held at the Mesquite Deuce Campus, 150 N. Yucca Suite # 1 (Old Library).
Youth Fall Flag Football 2015
Youth Fall Flag Football is scheduled to begin September 21, 2015, for BOYS and GIRLS ages 4 – 8 years old. The deadline to register is September 6, 2014 @ 6:00pm. Registrations are being taken now. Organized practices will be on Monday evenings and games will be played on Wednesday evenings.
If spots are available after the registration deadline, those wanting to fill the available positions will be charged a late sign-up fee per spot. Spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
