Dan Wright MRB Chair, announced that a new board member has been added to the Mesquite Regional Business Board of Directors. Burton Weast was elected to the MRB Board of Directors for a two year term ending on June 30, 2017. For over 35 years, he has been involved in association management, economic development and lobbying in the Pacific Northwest. Weast founded and served as President of Western Advocates Inc. from 1986 to 2005, when the company was sold.  Western Advocates was one of the largest association management, and public and government relations firms in Oregon during Weast’s ownership, with nine lobbyists and offices in Portland and Salem and over 20 contracted clients ranging from governments to utilities to private companies and associations. In Mesquite, Weast writes for Battle Born Media, and recently served on the Ad-Hoc Committee on Incentives for the City of Mesquite.

The board members are very strong and dedicated, and there have been recent examples of progress towards bringing quality employment to Mesquite,” stated Ken Cook.

“Ken was and is a tremendous resource for MRB and the Mesquite Community, he will be missed,” said George Gault.
