Andrew Yeh repeated the exact same round as he did last Tuesday at Falcon Ridge.  Today’s repeat consisted of an eagle on number one and five birdies on 4, 9, 10, 12, and 16 for two under 33 on the front and two under par 35 on the back for a very nice back to back 68 for medalist honors.  Don Mannon had a solid two over par 37 on the front and 43 on the back for 80 and first place low net with 67.  Today started the three month net tournament where all participants get points whether they finish or not.  Other players netting in the 60’s were Clark Mitchell (81) and net 68, and Bubba Petrick (79) and net 68.

About three years ago Don Mannon had quit playing golf for several reasons.  One was that he was frustrated with his poor playing.  This writer convinced him to come back and play from the forward tees.  It took awhile but now when he comes to play he has a smile on his face.   Today he had a huge smile and rightly so.  At the Palms golf course he had a birdie on nine for a two over par 37 and followed that with birdies on 15 and 18 for a one over par 38 for 75, his best round as a MMGA member.  A great example of the “move up and have fun again” philosophy.  It was good enough to win first place low net with 62.  And it was only two shots behind Andrew Yeh’s 73.  Yeh recorded birdies on 1, 2, 10, 13, 16 and 17 for a 37-36-73.  For a long time it looked like he was headed for three straight rounds of 68.  It could have been a 70 were it not for a triple bogey on the last hole.  These two gentlemen are tied for first place in the summer net tournament with 620 pts but the defending champ just returned from Taiwan and is set to defend his two year championship run.

The next scheduled play is Tuesday, June 9 at Coral Canyon at 9:00 and Thursday June 11th at Sky Mt at 9:00.  Always check your sig up sheets for any corrected times or places.  Anyone interested in joining the MMGA can call 702-346-6363.  Also check out our website at www.mesquitemensgolf.com.
